久しぶり、BOSTON 2026（３）

　今回のボストン訪問、そもそもはハーバード大学の日米関係研究所クリスティナ・デーヴィス所長から『AKIYAMA AWARD（Akiyama Award Winners | Weatherhead）』の30周年記念のお誘いで行くことになったのです。

Dear Akiyama-san,

Please let me add my thanks for all of your support to the program. The Akiyama award recipients starting with myself are grateful for the recognition provided by the award.  Although exchange rates fluctuate, the special meaning of the award is highly valued.
Please join us for the spring party if you are in Boston at the time. I would be delighted to welcome you to my home and the associates would enjoy an opportunity to meet with you.  As we look out at the snowy landscape here after a major snowstorm, it is nice to think ahead to May flowers.

　ボストン郊外の高級住宅地にあるクリスティーナ・デーヴィス所長のご自宅、いわゆる「マンション」風で玄関周りも立派で庭も広大、部屋数は幾つあったでしょうか！大広間でのセレモニー、ビュッフェスタイルでの会食、その後のアフタープレゼンテーション等、日本では一度にはなかなか会えない出席者の皆さんと濃密なお話をすることができました。

　庭はこの建物の左に拡がっています！

　そして、家の奥のホールではゲストスピーカーのお話ほか、AKIYAMA AWARDの紹介ほかもSusan Farr先生からして頂きました。

　クリスティーナ・デーヴィス所長と。

　スーザン・ファー前所長とも30年の歩みを振り返りながらのお話も。

　この晩の集まり、様々なプレゼンとビュッフェスタイルの食事と歓談、4時間を越えるひと時があっという間に過ぎていきました。この日お集りの方々と日本でお会いしようと思うとなかなかハードルが高い方々ばかり、こちらですと本当に等身大でお話ができます、30年の歴史の重みと価値をかみしめ、ホテルに戻ってからも何回も反芻した次第です。今回送迎をご一緒にして頂いた研究員のDBJの中澤伸一さんにも心から感謝致します！！
